Ann Willis

I am an artist and avid quilt appreciator! I have spent years quilting. I hold my breathe when I see a quilt. I think quilts are beautiful and I know how much time and work goes into their creation. I have chosen to give older quilts a new life in my quilted jackets project. Older quilts often have damaged areas that need to be cut away to salvage the healthier parts. I believe in salvaging unwanted quilts and giving them a new beautiful life!

My jackets are all individual and are a statement of the quilts they are cut from. The jackets modeled today are all made from vintage early 1900 hand quilted quilts. They are fully lined and have a silk sleeve lining.

“Sustainable living” is a goal of many these days. Up & Undies, up-cycled t-shirts sewn into undies, is an ideal way to put your money where your beliefs are. That is, if you believe in wearing undies, lengthening the lifespan of your favorite t-shirt, reducing your landfill guilt, and buying products made locally. Each pair is one-of-a-kind, and nothing about the process is automated. I believe adults should have fun and comfortable everyday underwear options. My materials are thrift store t-shirts and kids’ clothes.

Rewind to 2018 to find the start of these creations when a story about plastic bags being made into mats for the homeless sparked my curiosity. These last four years have been an adventure in recycling plastics of all kinds into creations culminating in “My Heritage” the name of this piece.

This piece required exploration, where do I find the colors needed for the separate panels. Materials for this one of a kind art pieces came from shipping, bread, garbage, and news paper bags. Plarn spun from those materials was used to crochet the corset top lined with reclaimed red fabric and closed with a reclaimed red fabric drawstring.

One-of-a-kind “Love The Environment” art pieces.

What's a wiggle dress? This dress was worn during the 1950s and is narrower at the hemline than the hips. This design caused women to walk with little steps and swaying hips, hence a wiggle. This vintage wiggle dress is made with dryer sheets dyed magenta and then fused onto a bed sheet. I am the owner/designer of WearWatts (Shopify website coming after Thanksgiving!). WearWatts uses deconstructed men's neckties to create 'Always unique, Always one of a kind" handcrafted fashion. The goal of WearWatts is to up-cycle a masculine business icon to create beautiful feminine fashion. Check out the upcoming fashion collection of purses, corsets, dresses and memorial hearts.

Spellcaster Aggie V -- Put a bit of magic in your clothes.

In 2021 I mixed upcycled denims with a lot of hardware to create pieces I
can replicate in different sizes, all made with 90% or more of
easy-to-come-by used materials. Snaps and rivets tend to be new, but
belts and buckles are often salvaged from other garments. Find SpellcasterAggieV across social media. https://staci39.wixsite.com/spellcasteraggiev
